My wife is a rural mail carrier with 27 years of service with the USPS. She started with them in 1993 at the ripe old age of 22. She has seen a lot of changes in that time, but she said she can’t remember a time EVER when OT was cut out and they were told to “leave mail for later delivery” so they could make it back in without going over their evaluated daily time. It used to be (before DeJoy) try to make it back in by your evaluated time, but make delivery of ALL MAIL for that day. Do not return to the office with any part of the days mail, even if it means going into OT. The part this guy doesn’t understand about rural mail delivery is that some routes are extremely long (like my wife’s) and OT is necessary to ensure timely delivery.
