It would be naive to depend on the Supreme Court to defend the rights of poor people, women, people of color, dissenters of all kinds. Those rights only come alive when citizens organize, protest, demonstrate, strike, boycott, rebel, and violate the law in order to uphold justice. I’m Catholic by definition and am pro gay marriage, pro birth control and am pro choice. Not all Catholics follow the rules of the Catholic Church or its teachings. Not trying to defend Catholics, but you could substitute your choice of the word “Catholics” with “Christian Church” and still drive home all your same points. Just look at Jerry Falwell Jr., that dude is a Christian jackass.
