As a Canadian I say keep them borders shut. Just watched a news report from a Trump rally and all these supposedly educated ladies, maskless and said covid was a bunch of malarky. I dont want these morons in my country. Please stay away. It's most likely because our government has to renew the border closure every month or so. So when that happens or a reporter asks an official a question it ends up in the news. A government isn't really able to close a border permanently, and say if covid-19 magically disappeared the border closure probably wouldn't hold up in the courts. So there's a reason for why it's being done this way...but it does mean a lot of unnecessary media coverage.
