Another Catholic chiming in. What you don't take into consideration is that most Catholics are good about separating personal religious belief and public policy. Personally I'm not a fan of abortion (still pro-choice), but I can separate my own personal feelings and recognize there's a lot of Americans who don't have the same beliefs. I hold my personal beliefs to be just that, personal. I don't expect, or want, those beliefs to dictate policy decisions that effect everyone. And there's plenty more Catholics who hold that same view.In the case of the likely nominees, these are more extremist Catholics who politicized their beliefs. Mike Pence calls himself and Evangelical Catholic even though that's pretty much a contradiction. Catholics are also the Christian sect most likely to vote with a liberal tilt.
