As a Catholic myself, I think the church needs to get on board with science, as it did with climate change and evolution, and recognize that a zygote and a fetus are not human beings. If we care at all about saving as many human lives as possible, we should be funding planned parenthood, supporting social welfare, and giving people free and open access to medical care. Forcing women to carry to term when the prospective mother is not financially or emotionally ready to have a child can have deadly effects for both her AND THE CHILD. Not to mention, at least 10 to 20 percent of pregnancies end in miscarriages, so if this is God's plan, who's to say the mother's will doesn't factor into it also?
