I really don't see why there's so much outrage about this. The guy left all his money to the school, and even earmarked $100,000 of it to go to the library. If he wanted it all to go there, wouldn't he say that? So why is everyone so upset? I definitely see how on the surface this looks like an asshole move. Then again, from a purely financial perspective, I don't really see it as frivolous. That video scoreboard will allow them to sell advertising space and time during future football games, or other events in that stadium, eventually recouping and surpassing the costs of purchase and installation, perhaps earning enough to build a new wing onto the library. Something that purchasing a new wing directly with his donations might not be able to accomplish.
