There is a difference between Catholics and the Catholic church. The institution of the Catholic church is, on the whole, pretty crappy. Catholicism is pretty rad as far as religions go--the OG Christians. Catholics are generally much more reasonable and moderate than their Evangelical cousins. The institution of the Catholic church and their goings on is separate from the people. You’re right and the Catholics in her home town agree with you. We think she’s crazy and she doesn’t represent the Catholic faith at as we practice it here. There are some religious extremists here but the faith as they want it hasn’t existed for decades. They are Trump cultists, hardly recognizable as Christians much less Catholics.
