Obviously the school was totally fucked in doing what it did with his donation, but couldn’t he have specifically earmarked what he wanted the money spent on his will as a stipulation of his donation? Something like “I leave $4 million to the University to fund a new library” That's ridiculous. At the very least they should have "directed" all of his money toward the library and on campus education purposes. Then just moved money previously earmarked for those items and put that toward the scoreboard. It's the same net result but it's a hell of a lot easier to package as a feel good story.
