Overall, the the likely extra costs of this design may be more significant than the short term gain. It seems likely the extra cost and reliability of this design may be prohibitive compared to the increased performance. I'd still like to try it out though. I think the big advantage here that i havent seen anyone mention is that it would prevent that thing where the wood cracks and splits longitudinally before the saw is finished making its cut which leaves you with one side having a big sharp spear thing leftover instead of having 2 cleanly cut peices. There are other ways to avoid such a thing from happening but this way would be way less hassle I would think.
